Broking Firm to Donate All February 27 Revenues and Commissions to Various Charities in Memory of Former Colleague
2009.02.26 : New York – Phoenix Partners Group, a leading interdealer credit and equity derivatives broker with offices in New York, London, and Paris, announced today it will donate to charity all revenues and commissions it earns globally on February 27th in memory of former colleague Joshua Bruce Sawyer. This year’s charity recipients will include St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (www.stjude.org), Hope for Vision (www.hopeforvision.org), Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (www.leukemia-lymphoma.org), New York-Presbyterian Hospital (www.nyp.org), and The Rogosin Institute (www.rogosin.org)
Mr. Sawyer died on January 23, 2007 after losing his battle with angiosarcoma, a very rare form of cancer. He was 28 years old and he continued to work until days before he died. Josh would have turned 31 tomorrow.
“Regardless of the success we achieve, Josh’s passing forever left a void in our lives,” said Sean McNally, a Phoenix Partner who was especially close with Mr. Sawyer. “Josh began his career in the back office of our predecessor firm and ultimately became one of our top producers. More than anyone he embodied and embraced our culture of teamwork and mutual respect and he loved nothing more than to see others achieve in the same manner that he did.”
