Charitable Giving

The people of Phoenix Partners Group share a commitment to supporting charitable organizations that improve the lives of others, focusing each year on a select group of causes to maximize the impact of our financial support. One of the primary ways we do so is through our annual Joshua Bruce Sawyer Memorial Charity Day, which is named in honor of a beloved and very much missed colleague who died of a rare cancer in 2007. On this day, Phoenix Partners Group and its employees donate all revenues and commissions to various charities.

In early 2011, Phoenix Partners announced the creation of The Phoenix Foundation, a charitable non-profit organization dedicated to providing financial support and other resources to local charities in the communities where Phoenix Partners operates.  The Phoenix Foundation provides financial assistance, such as direct donations, grants, and scholarships, to underfunded charities where the Foundation believes it can have a meaningful impact on the quality and continuation of the services and programs those charities provide. While any qualifying charity may be considered, the Foundation is keenly interested in those dedicated to helping underserved groups, namely underprivileged children, at-risk teens, and the elderly.

Joshua Bruce Sawyer

The Phoenix Partners Group Annual Josh Sawyer Memorial Day

Josh SawyerOn January 23rd 2007, we lost one of our own, Joshua Bruce
Sawyer. He was only 28-years-old when he lost his battle with angiosarcoma, a very
rare form of cancer. Josh was a vital part of our firm and a dear friend to all
of us. He approached his career with integrity, and his illness with bravery. In
Joshua’s honor, Phoenix Partners Group holds an annual charity day in his name where
the firm donates 100 percent of its revenues to various charitable causes. The first
charity day was held on Josh’s birthday, February 27th 2007, with all proceeds being
donated to numerous charities, including the Make-a-Wish Foundation, and Hope for Vision.
We would like to thank all of our clients who made this our busiest day ever and
raised more for charity than we ever imagined.

Marc Dent

Marc Dent Memorial Family Education Fund

Marc DentOur colleague and friend Marc Dent died on November 25th 2006
after a sudden illness. He was 42-years-old and left behind a wife and five children.
We established a memorial fund (www.marcdentmemorial.com) to secure funding for the
future education of Marc’s children. On December 14, 2006 the firm donated its revenues
and our brokers donated their commissions to the memorial fund. If you would like
to make a donation direct to the fund, payments may be sent to “The Dent Children
Education Fund”, c/o EthoSource LLC, 180 Grace Boulevard, Morgantown, PA 19543.
Our thanks go to all those who made it possible for a significant donation to go
to the fund and our thoughts remain with Marc’s family and helping secure a safe
future for his children.

Jerome Thibaud

Jerome Thibaud
On March 20, 2010, we lost a beloved colleague, Jerome Thibaud, who died in a tragic skiing
accident two days after celebrating his 29th birthday. Based in our London office, he was
an exceptional professional, a true team player, and a loyal friend. His joie de vivre was
infectious, bringing out the best in all who met him. Indeed, he packed more adventure and
joy into his short time than most people could hope to do in 10 lifetimes. We are deeply
privileged to have known him, and miss him dearly every day.

Phoenix Partners Group’s London office remembers JT with great pride and reverence, renaming
its annual charity event in his name to honor his legacy. All revenues and commissions
earned by the London office during the Jerome Thibaud Annual Memorial Charity Day are
donated to charitable causes. We extend our sincere gratitude to all who participate in this
meaningful day with us.
