Graham Smith’s capital markets experience began at Axiom Global Partners when he and Alexander Hucklesby were the key components of a team starting up the London office in 2004. Shortly thereafter they teamed up again to launch Mint Equities’ High Yield desk in London. In Autumn 2006, Mr. Hucklesby and Mr. Smith launched the Phoenix office in London where Mr. Smith worked as a broker and now runs Phoenix’s European operations out of London. Prior to working in the financial markets he started his career as a strategy consultant with Arthur Anderson and Deloitte.
Mr. Smith holds a BA degree in Social and Political Sciences from Cambridge University and also represented Great Britain at the 1996 Olympics in rowing. While at Cambridge he considered himself very fortunate to have been selected to row in the fastest ever Cambridge-Oxford Boat Race crew in 1998 and maintains to this day “it was headwind all the way”.
