Christopher J. Porzio
General Counsel
Christopher J. Porzio is the General Counsel of Phoenix Partners Group LP. He is responsible for overseeing the firm’s legal department and is a core member of the firm’s management team. He manages the firm’s legal affairs globally, including responsibility for litigation and Alternative Dispute Resolution, human resources, contract negotiation, and outside counsel relationships.
Mr. Porzio joined Phoenix Partners from Nixon Peabody LLP, where he worked for more than a decade as a member of the business litigation group. While at Nixon, his practice focused on the areas of commercial litigation, including business torts, contract, shareholder and corporate disputes, employment litigation, including discrimination, trade secret and restrictive covenant cases, healthcare, including medical staff privileges and False Claims Act cases, and municipal cases involving civil RICO, civil rights, the Fair Housing Act and Indian Law and Gaming.
Mr. Porzio has extensive trial experience in state and federal court and has handled administrative proceedings before the U.S Department of Housing and Urban Development, the U.S. Department of Justice, the U.S. Department of Education, the National Labor Relations Board, and the U.S. Department of Interior. He has also been involved in arbitrations before the American Arbitration Association and the American Health Lawyers’ Association, and has mediated several matters through various court-sponsored programs and through private service providers.
Mr. Porzio earned his undergraduate degree with honors from Amherst College and his J.D. with distinction from Hofstra University School of Law, where he was an editor of the Law Review. He is admitted to practice in New York and the United States District Courts for the Eastern and Southern Districts of New York and is a member of the New York State Bar Association as well as the Association of Corporate Counsel.
