Phoenix Partners Names John Bolton as General Counsel

Phoenix Partners Group, a leading interdealer credit and equity derivatives broker, announced today the appointment of John Bolton as General Counsel, a new position at the firm, effective immediately.

Mr. Bolton, 39, is responsible for overseeing the firm’s global legal and compliance functions, and will oversee the firm’s relationships with regulatory authorities. He also serves on Phoenix Partners Group’s management committee.

Mr. Bolton joins from Nixon Peabody, where he was a Partner and provided legal counsel to Phoenix Partners Group. His practice focused on complex business and corporate litigation and a variety of commercial and tort matters. He has also litigated numerous non-competition and trade secret claims, shareholder disputes, corporate disputes, and derivative actions.

He earned his JD from State University of New York at Buffalo School of Law, where he was a member of the Law Review, and his undergraduate degree from Hamilton College. A member of the American and New York bar associations, Mr. Bolton is admitted to practice in New York and the Eastern and Southern Districts of New York. He is also very involved with the Nassau County Bar Association. In 2008, The Long Island Business News recognized Mr. Bolton as one of Long Island’s most noteworthy people in business via its “40 Under 40″ award.
