Phoenix Partners Group Names Ali Hasan Rahman Senior Vice President of Business Development

NEW YORK — Phoenix Partners Group, a leading interdealer credit and equity derivatives broker, announced today that Ali Hasan Rahman recently joined the firm in New York as Senior Vice President of Business Development.

Mr. Rahman will be responsible for overseeing business development and governmental relations for Phoenix Partners’ expanding commodities and merchant banking divisions. As such, he will spearhead the firm’s expansion into key emerging markets, notably Equatorial Guinea, Ghana and Nigeria in West Africa, as well as Morocco and Egypt in the Middle East.

Prior to joining Phoenix Partners, Mr. Rahman, an attorney, was an associate in the Corporate & Securities and Finance practices at Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman, where he focused on project finance and M&A work for energy sector clients. He also played a key role in the expansion of Pillsbury Winthrop’s Middle East practice. Earlier, Mr. Rahman worked at the International Crisis Group, the world’s leading independent, non-partisan, source of analysis and advice to governments and intergovernmental bodies like the United Nations, European Union and World Bank on the prevention and resolution of deadly conflict.

Mr. Rahman is a graduate of University of Virginia. He earned his Juris Doctorate from Columbia School of Law.
