Phoenix Partners Group Names Sean Butcher Senior Vice President of Commodities Group
NEW YORK — Phoenix Partners Group, a leading interdealer broker with offices in New York, London, Switzerland and Paris, announced today that Sean Butcher joined the firm in London as Senior Vice President of the Commodities Group.
Mr. Butcher will be responsible for helping to expand Phoenix Partners’ commodities business, including the brokering of physical energy commodities, such as LPG (liquefied petroleum gas) and LNG (liquefied natural gas), as well as crude oil and distillates (crude-based refinery products such as heating oil, jet fuel and petroleum). He will also be responsible for expanding Phoenix Partners’ participation in the Asian and Middle Eastern markets.
Prior to joining Phoenix Partners, Mr. Butcher was founder and director of Anson Global, a consulting firm specializing in energy origination, brokering and sourcing strategies. He has been involved in facilitating financing opportunities for clients in the oil and commodity industries throughout Europe and the U.S. for more than a decade, including delivering sleeve financing, surety bond and bank guarantee solutions for transactions where Sovereign Debt Notes and government subsidies have played a critical role.
His other previous positions included chief operating officer of CIN Energy, where he worked to source, market, and deliver physical energy products to partners in the global energy and commodities markets. He was also previously a director at Nerva Capital, an asset management firm specializing in property finance and debt restructuring. Prior to that, he worked on the energy origination/marketing team at Faber Energy Consulting, where he helped clients in the commodity investment sector to source, value, negotiate, oversee, and optimize a significant portfolio of commodity assets.
“Sean has extraordinary physical energy commodities knowledge, experience, and relationships that will be of tremendous value as we continue to expand the commodities side of our business throughout Europe and Asia,” said Nicholas Stephan, CEO and co-founder of Phoenix Partners Group. “He will be instrumental in our continued push to become a competitive player in this space, and we welcome him to the team.”
