Phoenix Partners Group Teams Up With Youth-Mentoring Organization Minds Matter
NEW YORK — Phoenix Partners Group, a leading interdealer broker with offices in New York, London, Switzerland and Paris, announced today a charitable partnership with Minds Matter of NYC, Inc., a New York-based youth mentoring organization that works with deserving high school students who are highly accomplished in the academic realm but lack important resources to better prepare for college and career success. In addition to $25,000 in financial assistance, the firm has pledged hands-on support throughout the academic year via a mentoring program.
Minds Matter seeks to provide high-achieving students from low-income households with the academic skills and resources to gain admission to competitive four-year institutions of higher learning, thrive both personally and academically while in college, and pursue successful careers upon graduation. Students selected to attend Minds Matter’s three-year program (which starts in the sophomore year of high school) attend Saturday sessions, which are entirely volunteer-led, designed to teach academic preparedness, writing and critical thinking skills, and test preparation. As part of the program, each student attends two fully funded summer programs following his or her sophomore and junior year. To date, every student who has ever completed the program at one of Minds Matter’s eight nationwide chapters has been accepted into a four-year college or university. The funds provided by Phoenix Partners will boost the financial stipend granted to program graduates to help defray the cost of college tuition, books and other related expenses.
