The Phoenix Foundation Partners with Garden of Dreams Foundation to Deliver Unique, Memorable Events for Local Children Facing Obstacles
NEW YORK - The Phoenix Foundation, the charitable organization founded by leading interdealer broker Phoenix Partners Group, today announced that it has partnered with the Garden of Dreams Foundation to work on their programs that deliver unique, memorable events for children in the metro New York area that are facing life challenges, such as sickness, homelessness, poverty, or tragedy.
The Garden of Dreams Foundation is a New York City-based 501(c)(3) non-profit charity that works closely with all areas of Madison Square Garden, including the New York Knicks, Rangers, Liberty, MSG Networks, MSG Entertainment and Fuse “to make dreams come true for kids facing obstacles.” Since its inception in 2006, the Garden of Dreams Foundation has used its unique access to Madison Square Garden properties, athletes, events, TV Networks and venues to create unforgettable activities and special occasions for more than 165,000 children and families in the tri-state area.
“The Phoenix Foundation was launched with a pledge to do two things: make a material difference in the communities in which we operate by supporting local charitable organizations and to focus our philanthropic efforts on, among other deserving groups, children who are sick or otherwise need a helping hand. Our partnership with the Garden of Dreams Foundation is a perfect reflection of that mission, and we are extremely honored to work with them,” said Akasha Absher, president of The Phoenix Foundation.
“The Garden of Dreams Foundation has a simple, yet heroic purpose: to use the power and magic of Madison Square Garden to make dreams come true for children facing obstacles,” said Hank Ratner, Chairman, Garden of Dreams Foundation and President & CEO, Madison Square Garden. “The Phoenix Foundation’s sincere commitment to helping children will only help further our efforts to make a difference in the community and we look forward to a long and mutually rewarding relationship.”
The Phoenix Foundation has committed $75,000 to provide funding for the Annual Garden of Dreams Foundation Talent Show, which will be jointly presented by both organizations on April 11 at Radio City Music Hall. The funds will also be used to support “Dream Night” programs, whereby Garden of Dreams invites a group of deserving children to an MSG venue for a day or night of special access and VIP treatment during a concert, game, or special event. In addition to financial support, The Phoenix Foundation and employees of Phoenix Partners Group will also donate their personal time and other resources to provide additional assistance to the Garden of Dreams Foundation and the children whose lives it touches.
The Garden of Dreams Foundation Talent Show will showcase more than 20 different performances from 80 tri-state area children from Garden of Dreams Foundation partner organizations, including SCO Family of Services, Children’s Aid Society, NYU Medical Center and the Make-A-Wish Foundation. The theme for this year’s talent show is “Live Your Dreams,” where the kids will be showcasing acts that are inspiring to them on the Great Stage of Radio City Music Hall. Hosted by MSG Network Knicks reporter Jill Martin and Fuse host and Blink 182 lead singer Mark Hoppus, the talent show will also include appearances by Whoopi Goldberg, Darryl “D.M.C.” McDaniels, LaLa Anthony, R&B Singer Miguel, Adam Horovitz of the Beastie Boys, and Matthew Modine.
ABOUT THE PHOENIX FOUNDATION
The Phoenix Foundation is in the process of applying to the I.R.S. to be recognized as a tax-exempt 501(c)(3) non-profit organization and will apply to be registered with the State of New York Attorney General’s Charities Bureau as a charitable organization. Launched by leading interdealer broker Phoenix Partners Group (www.phoenixpartnersgroup.com), the Foundation provides financial assistance, such as direct donations, grants, and scholarships, and other support to underfunded local charities where the Foundation deems it can have a meaningful impact on the quality and continuation of the services and programs those charities provide. While any qualifying charity may be considered, the Foundation is keenly interested in those dedicated to helping underserved groups, namely underprivileged children, at-risk teens, and the elderly.
