Renewable Energy Markets are based on unbundling the “green” attributes of each MWh of renewable energy produced from the underlying commodity. The green attributes associated with 1 MWh of renewable energy correspond to one Renewable Energy Credit (REC), which becomes a tradable commodity. RECs trade separately from the physical commodity electricity.
